INTRODUCTION
PASC Partnership Plan is a new way of looking towards
the future. Pakistan
Adventist Seminary & College wants to continue to serve the
Christian
minority in Pakistan. This goal limits us in a very significant way
(only 3% of
the population is not Muslim). Many (the great majority) of Christian
schools in
Pakistan serve the Muslim population for economic reasons. We are
determined not
to compromise. Consequently, our income is limited only to the revenue
generated
from the poor and often neglected Christian minority.
We deeply appreciate the support we are receiving from
our donor agencies:
ADRA Netherlands, Danish Children's Fund and Asia Aid. We are also
thankful for
a number of individual sponsors. It is thanks to the generosity of
people who
care that we can keep making a difference in the lives of hundreds of
Christian
students.
WHAT IS PASC
PARTNERSHIP PLAN?
The main objective is to widen the support base
and to diversify our
income while at the same time provide ways of increasing
the
self-sufficiency of the institution.
PASC Partnership Plan will give the opportunity to many
to support PASC in a
specific and individual way. Individuals can get involved in supporting
a
student, in a development project or in a project which is specifically
designed
to help PASC become more self-sufficient and consequently less
dependent on the
outside aid.
PASC partnership plan is a long-term project. No
immediate "quick
fixes" are expected. We want to work in a planned and strategic way to
ensure the viability of the institution.
HOW DOES PASC
PARTNERSHIP PLAN WORK?
Very simple! There will be options given to interested
individuals as to how
they could support Pakistan Adventist Seminary & College. Once
an option is
selected, PASC will enter into a partnership with the individual. As
partners we
will work together to achieve the mutually agreed goal. PASC will keep
their
partners informed about the progress of the project. All PASC partners
will
receive our monthly Newsletter, the PASC Time.
Finances needed for the projects can easily be
transferred to our bank
account in Sheikhupura (see the page "How to transfer foreign currency
to
Pakistan Adventist Seminary & College). All moneys received
will be
acknowledged and properly receipted. Further, regular updates will be
published
on the Internet.
HOW CAN I BECOME
PASC PARTNER?
Easy, just let us know by fax, mail or E-mail that you
would like to become PASC
partner and indicate in which project you would like to be involved. We
will
acknowledge your interest and, after you activate your partnership, we
will send
you an official PASC Partnership Certificate.
HOW DO I ACTIVATE MY
PASC PARTNERSHIP?
After we have agreed on the project you want to be
involved with, the moment we
receive the first agreed payment for the project, we will activate your
partnership.
DO I HAVE TO BE
INVOLVED IN A PROJECT TO BE A PASC PARTNER?
No, not necessarily. You can be a PASC partner by paying
the monthly partnership
contribution of US $10 per month, or US $100 per year.
DOES IT MATTER HOW
MUCH I GIVE?
Definitely! It matters to us a lot, but also it matters
to you.
By giving to PASC:
$ 10 per month or $100 per year you will become PASC
Partner
$ 50 per month or $500 per year you will become Bronze PASC Partner
$ 100 per month or $1,000 per year you will become Silver PASC Partner
$ 1,000 per month or $10,000 per year you will become Gold PASC Partner
Over $ 1,000 per month or $10,000 per year you will become Platinum
PASC Partner
Higher level of Partnership will attract extra benefits
for PASC Partners.
WHAT ARE THE
BENEFITS FOR ME?
PASC Partnership offers you a number of benefits that no
other experience can
give you.
- The satisfaction of knowing that you are making a
difference for God in a country that is 97% Muslim.
- The excitement of participating in the real mission
field, reaching real people, creating a positive future for children
that would otherwise be condemned to work for their landlords or would
have no future at all.
- The privilege of belonging to a very special group of
people focusing on a very special purpose. As the project grows we will
publish a list of PASC partners around the world, your name could be on
that list.
- The joy of receiving The PASC Time newsletter every
month.
- The pride of receiving the PASC special gift
(according to the partnership plan you have chosen). We are planning to
include items such as T-shirts, caps, bookmarks, folk craft and other
exciting items.
I AM INTERESTED,
WHAT ARE THE PROJECTS I CAN GET INVOLVED WITH?
| Student
Sponsorship |
|
Primary |
|
Secondary |
|
College |
| (One year minimum) |
$50 p/m |
$55 p/m |
$60 p/m |
This is the project which will enable a needy student to
complete his or her
studies. The cost includes fees, hostel and cafeteria expenses, books
and other
miscellaneous fees. If you sponsor a student you will receive a
progress report
(including grades) and occasional letter from your student. For this
project we
need a commitment for at least one year.
PROJECTS
FOR 1999/2000
Affiliation with a
University
abroad
$5,000
Pakistan Adventist Seminary & College is
currently seeking affiliation with
a University overseas. This will help us gain the much desired
recognition by
Pakistani authorities and it will raise the academic standard of the
institution.
Reforestation of the
campus
$3,000
We plan to plant about 2000 new trees to provide shade,
keep the campus
attractive and filter the dusty air.
PROJECTS
FOR 2000 AND BEYOND
New Staff
Housing
$350,000
Most of the staff housing is below the minimum standard,
old and dysfunctional.
Plans are currently being made to build new complex for staff housing.
Development of Park
areas
$ 5,000
We need to make PASC a more attractive place. Plans are
being developed to
create shady park areas around the main building where students and
staff can
sit and enjoy reading and relaxing.
Staff Upgrading
$
6,000 per year
PASC needs trained professionals that will adequately be
able to serve the
academic needs of our students. We must upgrade our staff. We need more
MA and
doctorate degrees. This is one of the vital areas in which we seek
partners to
help us become an even better institution.
INCOME
GENERATION PROJECTS
-
Goat Farm
$2,000
For a relatively low start-up price we believe we
can purchase 2 male and 10 female goats which produce twice a year. As
the industry grows we will be able to sell the goats to the community.
-
Nursery
$2,000
Another income-generation project. The plan is to
use some of the space available to plant and produce flowers and plants
for sale.
-
Orchard
$2,000
One particular area on our campus is ideally
suitable for growing fruit trees. The plan is to cultivate the land and
plant fruit trees for our own use and for sale.
-
Fish
Farm
$3,000
There is enough space to have profit-making fish
farm at a very low cost to PASC. All the food not used in the cafeteria
can be used as feed for the fish.
-
General Store
$5,000
The plan is to open a general store that will be
open on both sides, PASC side and to outside community. Perhaps a
photocopying service could also be provided.
-
Export Industry
$50,000
Export industry is something we plan to investigate
as an option to generate income. A number of quality items could be
exported to overseas with a healthy profit margin. The funds are needed
to kick-start the project.
-
Shop Complex
$200,000
Shop complex is a project that will generate income
without having to spend money on extra personnel. The plan is to build
50 shops alongside our wall next to the main road and rent the shops
for Rs.1,000 per shop.
IS THERE ANY WAY I
CAN GET A TAX BENEFIT FOR MY PASC PARTNERSHIP?
Yes. If you choose to donate your money through your
local ADRA office clearly
indicating where the money is supposed to be going and for what
purpose, than
ADRA should be able to issue you with a tax-deductible receipt. Please,
if you
go through ADRA, let us know about your support. We need to know the
date, the
amount and the purpose (project), also indicate which ADRA office was
used for
the transaction.
CAN I USE MY CREDIT
CARD?
At the moment PASC does not have the credit card
facility. The best way is to
transfer the money directly to our Al-Habib Bank account. If you go
through your
local ADRA office most probably you will be able to use your credit
card. Please
do not send cheques that are less than $100, as we will loose too much
in bank
fees. Cheques over $100 are acceptable and should be sent to our
address,
attention Business Manager.
CONCLUSION
If you are interested, please contact us. This is a new
venture for us, as it
will be for you. Every contribution makes a difference. We will reply
to every
question you might still have. If individually you feel that you cannot
contribute much, why not start a PASC Partnership Club in your church
or your
organization? You can become our representative and our spokesperson.
